Dr. M.K. Smiling

HEY,

I’m Dr. Myron Krys (Krys sounds like “Chris.”
You’re welcome to call me Dr. M.K. for short.)

—psychotherapist, scholar, and lifelong bridge-builder.

My work sits at the intersection of depth psychology, theology, sexuality, and cultural identity. I support clients and communities in unearthing the stories they’ve inherited, the wounds they’ve internalized, and the truths waiting to emerge.

I hold a Ph.D. in Pastoral Theology, Personality, and Culture (clinical track), a Master of Divinity, and advanced training in self psychology, psychoanalytic theory, and decolonial approaches to healing. I serve as a full-time psychotherapist at The Depth Collective, and I create liberatory healing spaces for individuals, relationships, LGBTQ+ communities, and BIPOC clients.

Outside the therapy room, I’m a speaker, singer, educator, and creator of transformational group programs like Bold, Black & Beloved Brotha and Sacred Wounds, Sacred Wisdom.

My work is guided by these commitments:

  • Identity matters.
  • Healing is relational.
  • Rest is resistance.
  • Your story is sacred.

If you’re seeking a therapist, speaker, or facilitator who is warm, direct, culturally attuned, sex-positive, queer-affirming, and deeply invested in your wholeness—you’re in the right place. Let’s connect!

What It’s Like to Work With Me

Whether we’re working together in therapy, coaching, a workshop, a group space, or a speaking engagement, my presence is the same: grounded, warm, engaged, and deeply human. You don’t have to perform with me. You don’t have to impress me. You don’t have to shrink, translate, or edit yourself. You get to show up as you are — thoughtful, guarded, curious, exhausted, ambitious, hopeful, healing, or in transition — and we’ll start from there.

My style is relational, depth-oriented, and liberatory. I pay close attention not only to what you say, but how you say it — the meanings beneath the words, the patterns shaping your life, the beliefs you’ve carried, and the experiences that shaped your internal world. Whether the work is clinical, personal, or professional, I help you understand the story behind the story.

People who work with me often describe the experience as:

  • grounding, spacious, and emotionally safe

  • intellectually challenging in a way that feels clarifying, not overwhelming

  • culturally aware and identity-affirming

  • direct, honest, and deeply compassionate

  • reflective, transformative, and practical

I’m not a passive observer. I’m an active collaborator — asking thoughtful questions, offering insight, naming patterns, widening the lens, and helping you make sense of who you are and who you’re becoming. The work we do together blends self-reflection, nervous system awareness, storytelling, psychological theory, and your lived experience.

My goal isn’t just to help you function. My goal is to help you recognize the stories that shaped you, release beliefs that binds you, reclaim the voice within you, and redesign life and love on your own terms.

Whether we’re sitting one-on-one, in a group of ten, or in a room of thousands, I hold space with intention, presence, and care. I bring my full self — the scholar, the clinician, the coach, the creative, the southern gentleman, the spiritual thinker, the storyteller — so you can bring your full self too.

If you’re seeking work that is honest, liberating, culturally grounded, and deeply transformative… welcome. You belong here.
